My Messy Refrigerator Door

My Messy Refrigerator Door

When we moved into our new house, the first room I had big plans for was my kitchen. Now, everything we did was on a very tiny budget but I was so excited nonetheless to make it my own. My vision (and I will get there one day) is Cape Cod/Nantucket Cottage with beautiful appliances. The kind of space that always feels calm, put together and cozy.

Well, a girl can DREAM, because that is not my reality and my refrigerator door tells a different story. A different vibe.

It’s white and came with the house (did not realize how expensive those things are) and it’s absolutely covered in my toddler’s world. Whiteboard marker drawings of what she claims one day to be an octopus and the next day a jellyfish. Scribbles that remind me of when my students would draw the parts of a cell and the faces of the people in our family with questionable facial expressions. The best part of my refrigerator door mess is that it makes my toddler INCREDIBLY proud. She sees her artwork up there and makes sure to point it out to us all day long. She can identify at least 7 letters in the alphabet thanks to the magnetic letters scattered all over it which is amazing. I never thought my refrigerator door would be a hub for learning lol

Anyways, it’s not organized and it’s not Cape Cod aesthetic. But it's alive and it's proud and it's a piece of my toddler that I know won't last forever. So for now, I will cherish every bit of my messy refrigerator door.

I also have quarrels with my playpen that takes up my entire living room but thats a story for another time. :)
