There is something so special about this time of year, especially when you have little ones. The holiday events start filling up the calendar, classrooms begin planning their celebrations, and suddenly there are so many little moments you don't want to miss. You want to be there for everything. You want to show up, participate, take the pictures, and make all memories.
Alongside all of that excitement can come a lot of pressure. We want to make every event, volunteer when we can, and make everything feel as magical as possible. I feel like this can quickly turn into feeling like we have to do it all perfectly.
Between work and the demands of parenting, it all starts to feel like a lot. On a regular basis, now throw holiday magic into the mix. It is only the beginning and I already find myself trying to rememver that it doesn't have to be perfect to be special.
Our children aren't measuring how perfect everything came together. They're seeing us sitting in the audience, waving from across the classroom, helping them get ready, or making an ordinary day feel a little more special.
The magic is most definitely in the smallest of moments.
As life and the holidays get busier, we need to put a little less pressure on ourselves as mothers. We can't do it all and that can be a big pill to swallow but also a relief to realize at the same time. Let's try to enjoy the excitement and celebrations without putting unrealistic pressure on ourselves. The quality time through it all is more than enough and where I have found the most magic so far.
