I Think I Need to do Less

Lately, I’ve been so caught up in losing the pregnancy weight postpartum that I forgot to stop and focus on my mental health, too.

I feel like every day is just go, go, go. Work, kids, dinner, cleaning, bedtime… and even when both kids are finally asleep, I feel like I need to do more. I should work out, stretch, answer emails, clean something. I never really allow myself to slow down.

And honestly, these last few weeks I’ve been struggling mentally. I’ve felt really down and just not like myself. Working out definitely helps me when I’m in those moments, but I’m realizing that I can’t make my physical health another source of pressure when my mind and body are already exhausted.

I’m working full-time, raising two kids, managing a household, and my husband travels a lot. Maybe I don’t need to figure out how to fit one more thing into my day. Maybe I need to figure out how to take something off my plate.

But how do you actually slow down when there is always something that needs to be done?

I’d genuinely love to hear from other moms who have figured this out, because right now, I’m struggling with it.

Maybe resting isn’t falling behind. Maybe it’s taking care of me, too.
