Chalk has become one of my favorite go-to activities lately, my daughter is LOVING chalk. Here are a few chalk activities that are both playful and educational that we have been loving to do on our front porch!
-
Chalk Drawing & Shape Exploration
Drawing basic shapes—circles, squares, triangles and asking my toddler trace over the shapes with their own chalk. Or to run over to the shape I am asking her for to get her to learn to identify different shapes! She has been getting so good at identifying them! -
Chalk Letter & Number Hunt
A simple way to reinforce letters and numbers is by drawing them all over the sidewalk too! My daughter is mastering couting to 5 and identifying the letters in her name! -
Chalk Color Match
If your toddler is learning colors, grab a few pieces of colored chalk and draw large circles on the ground. Then, ask them to match colored toys or objects to the matching chalk circles. This is also fun to do inside with toys on a rainy day!
Chalk has definitely become our secret weapon for fun (along with bubbles if she doesn't dump them out everywhere), learning, and creativity. It’s something my toddler and I have been really enjoying together!
